pipe and tabor players as
architectural features in the UK
Chichester Cathedral, West Sussex
misericord, Precentor's stall
This misericord is known as
'The Hurst Misericord'
|
The choir stalls embody thirty eight misericords dating from around 1330.
A commentry says " Unfortunately the player's lower (right) hand is broken off, tantalisingly not showing the lower part of the body of the instrument." No reference is given, so this may or may not be a three-hole pipe played with the left hand. [see 14th century English]
